Hosted (“Hosted”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use the Hosted mobile application (the “App”).
By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information needed to operate the App, connect users for Shabbat meals, support safety features, and improve reliability.

To support the optional contact-matching feature, we may also derive and store a protected hash of your account phone number.
Optional Profile Information
You may also choose to provide:
- Profile photo
- Bio
If you upload a profile photo, it is stored in our file storage and displayed to other users through URLs used by the App. Profile photos should not be treated as private.

- Exact address information for hosted meals, such as street, apartment, city, state, ZIP code, and arrival instructions

Information From Your Device and App Use
Local Device Storage
To keep the App working, we may store certain data locally on your device, including:
- Authentication session data so you can remain signed in
- Limited app state or preferences, such as dismissed notifications or last-viewed timestamps
Technical and Diagnostic Information
Our service providers may automatically receive technical data associated with App usage, such as:
- App version
- Device and operating system information

Contacts
If you choose to use the “Find Your Community” feature, the App will request permission to access your device contacts.
When you grant permission, the App reads phone numbers from your contacts and securely transmits those phone numbers to our backend to look for matches with existing Hosted users.
We do not upload contact names, and we do not store uploaded contact phone numbers in our application tables as part of this matching feature. They are processed to return matches and connection suggestions.
Camera and Photos
The App may request:
- Photo library access if you choose a profile photo
- Camera access if you use the QR code scanning feature to connect with another user
If you scan a QR code, the scanned code is processed to complete the connection action.
